Wiki's are different then blogs because anyone with a computer can have access to them and anyone can edit or make changes to them once posted. Wikipedia's can be very useful in the classroom because students can post articles in a wikipedia (encyclopedia) and other students can help edit the article and it can also give teachers access to the articles and make changes to it if neccessary. It also can show students that writing articles is not a tedious assignment but one that millions of people do for fun and at the same time can improve their articles.

I created a twitter account and learned quite a bit since it was my first time dealing with twitter. After I logged in I learned how you could follow different people just by picking a category such as sports, family, music, books, and arts. Since i loved sports I decided to follow Troy Aikman and Dwayne Wade. I also learned how to follow different friends you already have a twitter account. Pretty interesting.

This application of picture saving and sharing can be very useful in the classrom setting because first off kids love it when they can add pictures to their projects plus it makes them more interesting at the same time. Also it allows them to save pictures or photos in one spot where they can be easily found and shared with other people.

Deleicious is a very useful tool because instead of saving bookmarks to a single computer you can save the bookmarks to the web which will allow you to access them from any computer. Tagging is very useful because you can assign tags to blogs, web links, and photos which will make them a lot easier to find at a later date. Before going through this course I had no experience at all with tagging but I learned a lot about it and think I could use it for not only classroom activities but also in baseball by tagging pictures throughout the year where parents could get online and easily fing these pictures.

This was the first time I ever dealt with google docs but after completing the spreadsheet I realized this could be a very beneficial tool in the classroom for students. For example it would be a great way for the students in each class to familiarize themselves with the other students. As the teacher you could come up with the questions and have the students answer them and the students could get online line (google docs) and learn about their fellow classmates and find out their similiarities and differneces. This is also a tool that a faculty could use to learn more about the faculty members they work with on a daily basis. One issue that comes to mind using google docs is the fact that all students do not have a computer at home or have access to one during the day at school. I liked google docs and think it coud be beneficial in my own life.

I have never heard of wikisbefore so this was all new for me. I am still not sure exactly what they are or how they are used but as a teacher I think it would be a good resource for students to come up with so their parent knew what they were doing in class. When I edited the wiki what I just stated was my contribution to the list. Something new that I will learn more about.

I liked thing 4. This was the first time I ever dealt with finding pictures over the internet. I was able to find and post a picture on my blog and also attached a URL address as well. I also learned how photo sharing is a great way to protect your pictures and at the same time you are able to share the pictures with as many peoplr as you want. I chose these two pictures because I love to hunt and fish.

While working through thing 3 I learned more about twitter and how the majority of the people using twitter are adults with the median age being 31. Being a teacher this would be a good from of social media to use to communicate info to parents and keep them up to date on how their child is doing. The one form of social media that I do not care for is facebook and myspace. Although this is great way to communicate info mostly among teenagers, it also causes problems when pictures are posted and comments start to be made and the wrong people see them.

Going through thing 2 was very helpful because it made me realize what our society is working toward. For example if you are not able to use technology (email, text messaging, blog pages,and the internet) you will get left behind in the working world and make it very hard to find or keep a job. Also I liked how it talked about how newspapers and magazines will soon be a thing of the past because people are no longer buying these forms of info instead they are reading them online where it does not cost them a dime. I am not a big technology person but now I realize how important it is to be able to use these different types of technology.

Thing 1 was very helpful because now I know finally what a blog is and how to post one.
